Big 12 players of the week.
Earlier today, the Big 12 named West Virginia’s Tre Mitchell as its Player of the Week. They also named Oklahoma’s Grant Sherfield, a transfer guard, as their Newcomer of the Week. Mitchell, who transferred to the Mountaineer program this offseason after previous stops at UMass and Texas, led his team to a pair of wins this week.
At Nebraska, Larson led the Huskers to the 2006 National title and finished runner-up in 2005. The Hooper, Neb. native was a three-time All-American and a two-time first-team All-Amercian. Larson was a two-time Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year and the 2008 Big 12 Player of the Year.As things stand, the Big 12 is tied for the second-most top-25 prospects on the PFF draft board of any conference (four).
