The different biomes have different loot tables & odds, so you might actually have better luck trying to find a chipped stone by going somewhere else that isn't the same biome you're in now. The flipside of that is that once you figure out the loot tables, generally, it's a lot easier to focus in your foraging efforts for specific stuff.
