Restoring a 1984 motorhome on a P30 truck chassis. It has a 454. I did not disassemble it and I think I'm missing some brackets for the Hydroboost pump. The "new" engine is a 1990 crate engine that the previous owner said had hydroboost brackets on it. It had brackets, but nothing that appears will work with my pump. Diagrams would be a big help.

The 454 engines tend to have more mechanically set ignition and timing then the 8.1. Just the difference in the level of ECM control on the newer engine. Assuming this is a GM/Chevy chassis model P32, if so it is likely that the sixth vin character is a "3" or a "5". I'm NOT positive about your 1993 model, but the 454 motor was rated at 290HP @4,000RPMs and 410 lb-ft of torque at 3,200 RPMs in the 1999 version of the P32 chassis.

Chevy is conservative beyond reason with timing in this engine to assure that it never detonates. Your timing control would then be about 14 degrees at idle. You would have about 34 degrees at full throttle when at or above 3000 RPM. When cruising at moderate throttle at 3000 RPM you would have about 44 degrees total.
