If I recall correctly, the military wanted a 'lighter' color of the Coyote stuff they were getting. They came up with some military/gov issue spray paint that was more of a tan color.So from October 1st until tax day FDE/coyote and brown dominant patterns work well. Occasionally we even have several inches of snow on the ground through out that time also. Few years back my parents got snow in late April, and I remember very well one year as a kid where it snowed in September.Fde in the first, coyote brown in the second. Both work pretty well in my area, so my gear is mostly coyote brown while my wife's is ranger green.
