May 12, 2020. #1. I have a hemi Predator 212cc on my Kart with a stage 1 carb kit on it. I was at a race and noticed I was significantly down on power and when I go full throttle on the stand the motor will bounce the RPMs at full throttle. I assumed it was valve float but I changed the valve springs to new 22LBS springs and it still does it.
The governor is the only thing restricting the engine. Without the governor it should spin 4700 or so IIRC. The only thing really stopping it from spinning faster at that point is the weak valve springs. Change those out and it'll spin fast enough to blow up the flywheel if you're unlucky. 24mph is ~129% of 18.5mph. 3800 x 1.29 is 4902.The 212cc Predator engine has an approximate maximum speed of 3600 RPM without a governor.
