I'm a total noob to flight games in general, so it took my a while before I figured out Yaw, Pitch and Roll. The "older sticks" such as the sidewinder, T-Flight, 3D extreme pro and CH are all extremely overpriced for what you get, put more money to the side and get a T16K if you must go budget. The T16K is basically the absolute minimum where you won't regret your purchase a month after obtaining it. Then set 1 binding for left click and one for right on your stick or hotas. Then you just look at what you want and toggler the correct left or right click. Modifiers and hats work for me. Thats for anything i need quick access to or for convenience like weapon selection, hud modes and navigation, flaps, gear, ect.The old price of the NXT Premium on the NA store was 150 USD, and the current price of the EVO Premium is 165 USD. I would highly recommend staying away from WinWing. This is going to be a tad long so hang tight. I recently got into DCS and jumped into the deep end by purchasing a Warthog HOTAs and a TrackIR. As far as price goes the warthog hotas was easily half the price of the vkb or virpil which didn't include a throttle. So as far as quality goes for the price of a complete virpil hotas I would expect it to be better than the TM. Remember I got the complete hotas for £350. I started with kb+m and changing to a HOTAS was an absolute game-changer. It's much more immersive and intuitive. And looking back at it, controlling a spaceship with kb+m feels super wrong. Very precise aiming is easier with a mouse but doable with a stick as well.

The throttle can be "stiff" but it's easily fixed by reducing some of the lube that comes applied from the factory.
