In my recent game I went down the genetic ascension path. Different amounts and types of genetic information are stored in these locations.(Granted, you can still only have 5 traits, but it means extra points to spend on more powerful positive traits.) If genetic ascension gets buffed to give extra slots, I can see all these cheap trait points becoming a balance issue for Hive Minds especially. Probably traits should be disallowed somehow if they're rendered meaningless by other ...

Like biological ascension, there will be restrictions on stacking these traits with normal traits. Unlike biological ascension, you wouldn't be able to totally rewrite your pops genes. However, you can 'substitute': you're allowed to remove a biological trait in order to add a cybernetic trait that plays a similar role.Daneken967 • 3 yr. ago. The advantage of synthetic ascension is that across the board you get more pop bonus modifiers in total as well as immortality. The advantage of genetic ascension is that you get to pick which bonuses you want to give your pops, and these are stronger than any other bonus in very specific areas. The RNG tech system is frustrating for all the ascension trees. I went for psi on my first game, and it took forever to get psionic theory so I could start the psi ascension. On my second play I was going for genetic ascension, and I rolled a random event that gave me psionic theory less than 10 years into the game.

I had gone Genetic Ascension, and had Clone Vats on some forty habitats all spread out across my sizable empire. But unfortunately I forgot to take Voidborn so I couldn't use their slots to their fullest extent. With forty habitats and, uh, twenty planets, printing out pops, that ring-world was stuffed within a few decades.

That can be great, especially if you take mostly overtuned and negative traits to start with. That way, you have basically the gene-modding flexibility of Genetic Ascension but access to normal, overtuned, and cyborg traits, which you can stack for triple bonuses or combine in other powerful ways.I finally finished my third ascension diorama, so all three paths are now complete. Some of you might notice that Stellaris requires much more technologies and special projects for synthetic ascension than shown above. I have shortened the process a little, otherwise the diorama would have become too large.Depending on how much you minmax and how favourable conditions are, you could exceed that around 2350. You can do genetic engineering by removing bad traits and adding new traits but only a biologically ascended empire can totally rewrite the genome in order to specilise. They can add negative traits, get 6 (over 2 ascendancies) extra trait points and get entirely new specilised traits only availible to them.

Biological ascension can get an extra +20% (= +.6) normal growth rate and +3 assembly speed. An empire without any ascension at all can get +2.3 assembly of course just from a normal robot assembly plant. So Biological ascension is worth +1.3 total growth rate compared to a non-ascended empire with robots while Synth is around +5 or …

Last time I played, synthetic ascension only transform those with the cyborg trait, so you can create a backup cyborg template, gene mod all your clone pops to the non-cyborg original one, synthetic ascend to turn all the filthy xenos you conquered into robots, and then gene mod the cyborg traits back to your 100 clones.A simple guide to assist with selecting Ascension Perks in Stellaris version 3.6 "Orion" 1. 1. 1 . My one quibble so far is with genetic ascension. Though it's fiddly in the current game, I like to roleplay having different 'caste' specialized for different jobs. I wish they would make this easier and less micro intensive, but they seem to be going more in the direction of creating one mass-produced super species by giving you more trait slots and removing …

In general I agree but synthetic and psychic pops get amazing leader traits. Bio ascension is great for Fanatic Purifiers as well. The pop growth buffs stack incredibly well together to give the fastest pop growth in the game. When playing wide and fighting all the wars, all the time and constantly expanding you really need those growth buffs stacked together in order to keep momentum all the time.

So what's your opinion on the ascension rework in 3.6? I'd go with this 1. Cybernetic - Basically an upgraded version of the old Bio ascension. It is no secret that Exalted Priesthood and Aristocratic Elite have historically been under-powered civics compared to Technocracy. To be fair, Technocracy is kinda OP to begin with. It's not much of an improvement over ...My point of view is that the Genetic Ascension has a gap in terms of unique specialization given to other ascensions.
