Here's my oil return set up. We welded a -6AN bung to the adapter plate and then used a banjo bolt kit to replace the factory oil return fitting that’s on the block. The banjo bolt kit is M18x1.5 with a -6AN fitting. We used a 10” (12”OAL) SS braided line with -6AN couplers on each end.

This took 5-30 seconds. Next remove the fuel return hose and plug both ends. Then completely unscrew the closest fuel injector nut. Slightly release the tension on the injector line with one hand and run the pump in the engine bay until fuel comes out (a couple seconds at most) Tighten the nut back on the injector.

Remove the solenoid and then Remove the planetary gears. I replaced the drive, which is a HUGE pain. The drive is normally good still on these starters. You can tell though by turning the drive by hand while holding the planetary gears still. It should go smoothly one direction, and then not turn the other direction.Plugging the top of the transmission with towels so debris doesn't fall in works well also. -Remove ground strap from top of transmission. Also remove 2 10mm bolts holding the wiring to the front of the trans. Remove mechatronics plug also. -Remove wiring from starter & unbolt the starter (2x 16mm bolts i believe).Jun 6, 2020. #18.
