If you convert a lich you get the ephemera but not the weapon. If you kill the lich you get both but cannot trade it. if you convert, then sell the lich you get the ephemera, and the person who traded you it can get both the weapon and ephemera. I got him from killing the larvling with Grendel (thought he made fire liches, whoops my bad). I was pretty excited to see such a high bonus but I've also seen a lot of talk that impact bonuses on kuva weapons are a waste.

So when it shows up, after you killed a larving ling, and you see a visual effect around it = you will get an ephemera later 😄. Here 2 examples:

I've acquired 15 liches so far: average roll is 32.93% (terrible, but only -3% compared to your average) and my best is 48% (barely good). A bit over 1/4 of my rolls are either 25% or 26%. No ephemera on any of my 15. At least I've managed to get 10/13 kuva weapons, so that's something.
