Mar 16, 2016 · Peer review is one of various mechanisms used to ensure the quality of publications in academic journals. It helps authors, journal editors and the reviewer themselves. It is a process that is unlikely to be eliminated from the publication process. All forms of peer review have their own strengths and weaknesses. The good news is that published papers often now include peer-review records, including the reviewer comments and authors' replies.
