The G17 and XD grip lengths are about same, but in standard capacity the G17 holding 17 and the XD holding 16. The barrel lengths are both nominally around 4", but while the G17 is just over, the XD is just under. The G17 is lighter, at 25.1 ounces, while the XD feels a little top heavier at 28.2 ounces.
Currently my XD9 SC has the pinky extension which is much better than same magazine without it. Also another difference is that the XD9SC has a flush fitting 10 round or 13 round magazine vs the G26 having a 10 round. That gives the XD9SC a 3 round advantage.
