Code 110-3 is an open circuit fault for the coolant temperature sensor. If this code is active, the engine ECM will keep the fan on to keep from overheating the engine. It is a fail safe operation. The most likely cause of the 110-3 is a failed coolant temp sensor. Since it is a -3 (open circuit) you should be able to Ohm the sensor.

The MBN cat is about the same, however ecm can be modified to create more power and raise fuel milage but I have never seen one actually run lower temps.

Thats why you wont find either in the oil cooler, water in the port next to the liner, temp switch in the pan but overheat switch in the gallery, yada yada.
