It was completely worn and needs replacing. I am going to replace the cam chain and the oil pump drive chain. Being a Honda mechanic many years ago, it just doesn't make sense that a 2000 mile machine should need a cam chain. The newer 680 engine has a different cam chain and tensioner, so hopefully the early cam chain failure has been fixed.

They was also known for the auto cam chain adjuster to let loose and then work again (jump time). Again, most of the time it would still start and be low on power.
