Jan 29, 2021 · In the BRN there is very little room. I decided to copy a mod I saw someone do on a Gen 1 Ks47. Drill and tap holes for two socket head cap screws to go through the sides of receiver. Then mill a small amount off the bottom side of those bolts until the mag was a tight fit. The Ks47 Gen2 resolves this by adding material to the inside of the upper. It's up to you whether you go KS-47 or AR upper, but I'd suggest PSA over BCA without hesitation. PSA sells 7.62x39 AR uppers in addition to the KS-47 so you could get one of their uppers and mate it to your lower of choice, no reason you have to go complete. Sure, but there was never any point to buying a KS47 upper then. A regular 7.62x39 upper would be what you wanted. The KS47 upper is specifically for the KS47 lower. It's wider to accommodate the AK mags, and there are 2 rounded lugs on the bolt to accommodate the AK mags as well. It isn't an issue, just not necessary for what you want. Extractor/Bolt Life. 7.62x39mm can be demanding on extractors and bolts due to the larger case being forced into a bolt designed for something much smaller.
