Published in 1850, this paper describes the medical (as opposed to the moral) treatment of insanity, including the treatment of acute and chronic mania, melancholia, dementia, periodic insanity (mania followed by melancholia), puerperal insanity, insanity complicated with palsy or epilepsy or dyspepsia, and pulmonary consumption.
