These hives spawn insects that tunnel up through the floor of any area that can’t be bombarded by outsiders.Infestation. Infestations are an event and a serious threat in which a number of hives are spawned, alongside insectoid defenders. Option 1) Make sure to no dig stone under thick roof, or if you do, make you to always build a wall in place so that no thick roof is left empty. Result : no infestation.

Parts of it will collapse and make the entire infestation aggro your pawns. That minimum temperature isn't even cold enough to refrigerate, let alone freeze a mountain solid. I meant to test I had like 10 coolers and they didnt even get close to temp to counter infestations. Avoid the minigun. And probably also sniper rifle and charge lance. Pros: Saves more corpses if you want them. Also your colonists probably already have them equipped. An appropriate area for infestation has to be: Below the roof of a mountain. In a place that has a moderate temperature. In an area that has been unblocked for a long time. Inside a linked area of 16 tiles, to the least.

Building in a mountain exempts you from seiges, helps with climate control, and makes the base much easier to defend in general. It really needs to have some sort of weakness/drawback. And that drawback is bugs. People are just butthurt that their previously impervious extreme difficulty bases are now vulnerable. 2.

Giant infestation just needs all non ranged pawns equipped with plasteel swords, I smelt any below masterwork, set to attack instead of flee on sight from enemies.
