I have the same issue, and from my understanding its a bug that happens when you port a world from 1.3 over. that usually happens to an calamity world. if you want to get rid of the sea then just disable the mod then start a new world. theres no way you can purify that anyway. No Sunken Sea. I've noticed that Calamity Mod devs added a new biome. The first thing i would do is to check it out. I believe the Calamity Biome is located on the left edge of hell, all the way to the left of hell.Those "pearls" made of sea prism is quite displaced and out of the sunken sea, something that normally doesn't happen. EDIT: I used sirens heart, the sulphuric potions, and the desert scourge expert drop. (And worm scarf) I found hole for the abyss and made it to I think the 2nd layer! Sulphurskin potion actually reduces the effect pretty drastically so that is what you need if you wanna do it the proper way. You need some sulpuhric scales for the potions tho.
