Aluminum is a light metal that is used to make a myriad of household and industrial items. Many people recycle scrap aluminum for money, but in order to do so, you must be certain that your metal is actually aluminum.Placing screws through the bottom of the skis into the sled. The screws should tightly secure the 2×4’s that you install over the base of your sled. The addition of the skis makes it easier to haul the gear through the snow. It should make your sled much more efficient than it was before the installation of the skis.

You should be able to get an old pair from a ski shop or ski area. They can't sell them so they should offer you a freebee. Try to get a shorter or kids ski about 5 feet long that will fit in your vehicle. They are wider than the X country skis and "float" in deeper snow better. I built a Smitty sled two years ago and it works great.

I made my smitty sled wide enough to put the hub shelter next to the the tub. And it comes apart like the picture above. X3,4,5,6 on the Smitty Sled. Clam should have hyfax made for your sled, order a set and put that on. Could put an Otter sled under it. Or a smitty sled. Google smitty sled for a cheap easy pulling sled. We've bought old cross country skis and bolted them on. Is the hyfax just a piece of plastic that lifts the sled a few inches off the ground.
