Gmc acadia torque converter recall.
I have a 2009 Acadia with transmission issues. The 35R waveplate has been updated and the problem persists. The car shudders most noticeably in 3rd and 5th when put under a slight load. It also seems to surge or flare in all the gears almost like the lockup converter is cycling slightly (at 55 mph the tach moves back and forth 50 to 100 rpm).

to hopefully make you feel better about it, I have a 2013 Acadia as well with 160,000 kms on it with the exact same problem. Revs up and shudders into 2/3 gear and 4/5 gear. Not everytime, but often. I bought it 1 1/2 years ago and have had the problem since the beginning of ownership! (I know, my bad for not having a mechanic check it out first).
