These mods are all made by Earendel, and are official recommendations: Combat Mechanics Overhaul: Helps with defenses when off-planet, by letting walls block projectiles. It does buff enemies slightly to compensate, but that can be disabled with a mod option. It is cheaper to repair walls than turrets.

Spend a garden, get 1 back with a 5% chance of getting a second one. When you're lucky enough to get more gardens, you can generate more tokens and seeds back in the seed extractor. This will let you keep trying your luck with the RNG to get all the seed types. The various crops are self-sustaining.

belts with ammo on them. Sometimes you have to but it's really expensive. If you do do it only put it on half the belt. 4 piercing ammo on a belt is 20 copper, 16 iron, 4 steel. Or 56 ore. That you smelted and paid a lot of pollution for. So don't spend 112 ore on each belt, and only use half the damn belt!

The seed is only going to give you grasslands, deserts, forests in the same location. And thats not even 100% acurate as your water setings will also change the layout too. So you can play around with those to keep the island but increase resources on the island. Or make it a peninsula if you slightly decrease the amount of water. First stage of a full belt split off.
