For comparison, a full unit of Raveners kills only 5.71 marines while Genestealers kill 15.71. That's just about 3 times more damage for only 33 ...

Don't have all models here at home, so the best I could get is a lictor next to an old Tyranid Warrior (who is about the same size as the current Warrior). My impression is that the lictor is too skinny and small. Better take the 2nd edition Hive Tyrant as a base (here with Chapterhouse bitz):An eldar pulse laser for instance (S8, -3 AP, 3 damage) kills a warrior every shot on a 2+ to wound. If you want to field lots of warriors it can be worth bringing a Prime. The tyranid prime is so expensive for his stats though that you need at least 300 points of warriors (so 10+ bodies, sounds like you have that covered), to make him worthwhile.

Tyranids were my 3rd 40k army (after Eldar and Black Templars) so I was overjoyed to be given the chance to review their new update. I played them extensively in tournaments during 5th to 7th edition and were oddly the largest army collection I fully painted up as I have around 4,000 points of Tyranids. In yellow!

Some boxes come with 50mm, some come with 40mm. Technically 50mm is newer and therefore 'correct', but there's no consistency. Personally, I'm sticking with 40s, both because I feel they look better and because I cannot be bothered to rebase all my Warriors for a game that has no official base sizes to begin with.

For quite a long time they would sometimes come on one and sometimes the other, hence all the conflicting info if you try to look it up. But now it's fairly consistently 50mm. Until 9th edition Tyranid codex , they were on 40mm. Since the new codex, they now come with 50mm in the box.The base sizes matter less in 40k generally, but the most common base sizes are 25mm for light infantry, 32mm for space marines and other elite infantry, and 40mm for heavy infantry.
