Xc3 vs ftw3.
So I had fan issues with the ftw3 but the XC3 ultra bios is working fine. The ultra bios is 270w vs 264w so not that big of a difference. I found out that updating the firmware in precision X1 was what caused the fan issues on the FTW3 bios. So I'm just using MSI afterburner now and it's working perfectly. I got to +2.2Ghz on the FTW3 bios.
Both cards are 2x8 PCIE powered, with the XC3 having a lower 366W max power limit vs. Tuf OC's 375W. I know the FTW3 model can go up to 450W and the XC3 model, as far as I know only to 350W (but it has only 2 connectors and is smaller, something I like). Do you think that it is worth the FTW3 in this case? Would I be able to reach 2000Mhz with the XC3 model only with a TDP of 350W and the waterblock? What would be your choice guys? Keep the TUF, sell your friend the XC3 since he’ll be able to handle any warranty claims himself with EVGA. If you sell him the TUF, you’ll have to handle any warranty claims with ASUS for him since you’re the original buyer. EVGA warranties go along with the card, even if you resell it. XC3 is a the clear winner to me. I have no clue what I would do with a dual bios or any of the other additional features the FTW3 offers. I just want to plug it up and play. The FTW3 is too big and ugly. The XC3 should fit in my sliger SM550 and should do everything I want just fine.The FTW3 cooler is absolute trash in comparison. The Strix will achieve similar temps @ 400-600 less RPM which is a massive difference when it comes to GPU's. With a slight undervolt the Strix will maintain 68C @ 1300RPM and basically be inaudible (1000RPM are the fans minimum duty).
